Ripley was badass because she was normal.

Which I'm guessing she/they've learned to use within 10 minutes of 'transitioning' due to some nifty Matrix-esque integrated programming.
Because we all know the most effective means of dispatching corrosive-blooded Xenomorphs is close combat.
It's a real shame that they seem to be going the young adult route with the franchise, because a less monster/action focused Weyland-Yutani origin story would have had so much potential.
The Alien rights are owned by Disney now, though. There was no chance this was going to be good no matter what route they took.

The primary concept that makes the Xenomorphs so frightening is how devastatingly efficient they are. If one got inadvertently loose on earth, we'd be megafucked, regardless of the century. The only thing that can effectively contain them is the vacuum of space (and even that has its limits if you include Alien: Romulus in the universal canon).
There's a relatively decent Reddit post that outlines a reasonably realistic response to a Xenomorph outbreak on earth, but I suspect the whole scenario is pretty self-explanatory.
Fucking Disney.

The Xenomorphs are affected by the law of conservation of ninjutsu.

It is a pity they didn't go for a cosy crime theme, Miss Marple investigating the events at Crimley on the Wold while visiting her nephew who's doing very well with that Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Carry on Alien, especially the bit where the alien's bra flies off and an engineer laughs like Sid James.

Who can forget the jump scare when they think they're being surrounded by multiple aliens and the door suddenly opens accompanied by a loud squawk as Gonzo's chickens turn up.

It'll be shite then, like all the other horror telly series attempts.

first film a classic, second film a fun big budget romp on the theme. Everything since is forgettable tripe shitting on the legacy as they squeeze every drop out of the IP.
